Jonathan Ovalle (b.1976, Mexico City) is a multi-faceted, Detroit-based composer, arranger, producer, and musician.  

A seasoned musician, he has performed concerts in Europe, Asia, Canada, and across the U.S. working across genres as a drummer, percussionist, and improviser. His musical palate is inspired by electronic music, jazz, film music, pop songwriting, symphonic repertoire, and contemporary solo & chamber music. Creatively inspired by architecture, design, and visual art, additional interests include sonification/data inspired composition as well as sourcing data from musical works to create visual art. 

His current composition work includes scoring/sound design for film, advertising, and media projects, as well as  contemporary solo and chamber works for the concert stage featuring electro-acoustic mediums. His newest performance project is a new recital program featuring music for both solo percussion and solo piano by Phillip Glass, J.S. Bach, Michael Laurello, Julia Wolfe, Nicolas Martynciow, Michio Kitazume, and Missy Mazzoli set to debut in the fall of 2022.
